Prof H. Junjappa, co-founder and director
of BioOrganics & Applied Materials Pvt. Ltd. has vast experience
in synthetic organic and medicinal chemistry, intelligent
materials such as polythiophene-precursors, conducting
molecules, non-linear optical chromophores, light emitting
diode chemicals, fluorescent and biosensor molecules.

His expertise stems from many years of experience in many well known acedemic
institutions in the country. He served as scientist in Medicinal
Chemistry Division, Central Drug Research Institute Lucknow(1970-1976),
and was professor and founder head of Department of Chemistry, North
Eastern Hill University, Shillong(1976-1998).
Thereafter he moved to Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur as emiritus professor (1998-2001). He is currently the Director, Scientific Research at BioOrganics.

Prof.
Junjappa is an
internationally known Organic Chemist who has made significant contribution to
Organic Synthesis and published over 200 research papers in international journals
along with his wife Prof. H. Ila, who is currently Professor of
Chemistry at Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. They have together
developed several new general methods for novel heterocycles with diverse
structural features.
As a part of their collaborative work, they have discovered a new general reaction
called The
Junjappa-Ila (JI) Aromatic and Heteroaromatic Annulation (1984).
The new JI-Annulation has since been explored to create a wide variety of heterocycles, benzoheterocycles, novel bridgehead heteroatom products covering major areas of heterocyclic chemistry. His rich experience and knowledge are an asset to BioOrganics.
