Bioorganics got the sanction of Department of Biotechnolgy, Biotechnology, Government of INDIA, New Delhi project, “Deuterium Labeling of Molecules for Drug Discovery and Clinical Research” on 26th April 2010 under Small Business Innovation Research Initiation (SBIRI) scheme.
Deuterium labeled drug entities are widely used in Drug discovery process in the pharmaceutical industry.  One of the reasons for the slow delivery of new drugs from the Indian Pharmaceuticals industry is the non- availability of these labeled drug entities in India. So, there is a genuine need for developing a deuterium exchange technology platform. This project is aimed at developing a deuterium exchange technology platform and using the developed technology platform to the syntheses of several D-labeled building blocks. The D-labeled building blocks will be used for the synthesis of deuterium labeled drug entities. The compounds generated using this technology will help to speed up the drug discovery and clinical research in India by providing an indigenous source of deuterium labeled drug entities.
